Hi,

Looking for ideas on why my work laptop on wifi broadband here at home in Riyadh will connect to work VPN, will log-on to Skype, but will not open Google or any internet site using IE7 or Firefox? Gives error message "can't open page" and similar.

At the same time, my own laptop on same wifi is browsing away grand.

The work laptop used to browse perfectly and still does browse on work internet and using a 3G dongle connection.

Effin' mysterious.

IE properties are set identical for both laptops.

Any ideas what to check or look for, please?

Bin

yep, and its hidden in some advanced panel in connection settings, I've had this before after working on a site using a proxy and forgetting to un-proxy when at home.

Tks, guys!

I use both machines on work internet and home internet and I have two batch files written by my IT man to set IE properties according to which location I am connecting to.

I think the fact the VPN and Skype works means the laptop can see the internet, but some specific issue is there regarding browsing.

I will get the IT guy to check the batch file, maybe a bug, although same file on each machine.

The one that works is Vista, t'other is XP,

Puzzling.
