Can't open e book in calibre or PDF format?

Hi all

I downloaded an e book and its in calibre format and have tried to open it up as a PDF but can't. I have tried adobe and internet explorer and many others but the closest i get is just a load of numbers and figures in word. I have downloaded calibre itself. The book avatar comes up as if its in the library but opening it is impossible. Am i missing something here as i paid £6 for this e book and no matter what i just can't open it. I am not the brightest spark with computers but know how to open these things but it seems i am missing something...can anyone help please...Thanks

What is "Calibre format"?

Sorry its a EPUB format which i have never heard of before . No matter what programme i just can't open it. I was wondering if really they are for phones , tablets etc and perhaps a humble laptop just does not fill the requirments?

EPUB is a mac format for your iPad etc, Calibre will convert to what you want just use the menu and instruct it to the format you want,

nowt to do with macs other than it's what iBooks uses.


calibre can easily open EPUB files, so sounds like the OP's file is corrupted maybe.
