Can't send routes SPIII

Been playing with my old Streetpilot III

I can't send routes to the data card, select a route in Mapsource V9 send it to the card it says "sent" put card in the Streetpilot and no routes showing ? can send maps ok just not routes, anyone any ideas where I'm going wrong ?
Have managed to do this in the past without any problem.

Don't have a serial port on the laptop to connect the Garmin directly

Routes and waypoints are sent via the serial lead only, the card holds the map data , the sp3 holds the routes and waypoints, I do'nt think there is any way round it without a serial lead

Ahh I suspected as much, I'll need to find a way of connecting it to my laptop which doesn't have a serial port. I suspect you can get a serial to usb adapter.

Seem to remember a post saying there was an issue with USB to serial leads on the SP3
