I know...it's that old chestnut again...but it is nearly Christmas and there do seem to be bargains out there.
Father drives car only and is not very technically/PC minded. My brother said he wants a Sat Nav. I was thinking the 2610 was good value at £175ish at the moment but then thought he'll probably want postcode search and all mapping (UK only enough) built in.
What he wants is really probably something simple that works.

Budget really is £175 or less.

Any ideas appreciated.

Thanks.

I don't think he needs a 2610 and would be better off getting a car only type version. Best bet would be to visit the likes of Halfords. Something like a navman iCN520 @ £169.99 (was £299.99) would fit the bill.

2610 has a lot of features he probably won't ever use, so - how about one of the Ipaq type things that uses Navman software. I found it good in the car, and the one I had used the contact details in my Outlook folder for "favourites".

Only thing to watch for on those units is that the power supply is a bit fragile in a car and you can do expensive damage to the thin wafer-type connection in the bottom of the unit.

Al :D

Asda advertised a Sat Nav for £99 on the TV yesterday , don't know which one :thumb
PS....... The Father in Law is 65 , he wants a Sat Nav so i lean't him mine :o
Drove through red lights because it didn't say stop and as soon as a turning was mentioned he would panic , break heavily and and turn into the first junction he saw :(
A bit scary really

I have jusy got my dad the new TomTom One, while I have a 2610.
For the 'non-power user' I'd recommend the Tomtom one, its so easy to use. I think I paid about 165 from curry's online (with some discount voucher I found on the net).

Thanks everyone :) I've given my bro the info and he hasn't even asked me for half the cost yet....give it time!!

have a look at the garmin nuvi range there wicked? :thumb
