So as part of my ongoing find the fault game, I thought I would take the tops of my carbs and check the diaphragm's for any holes or rips etc. Can I take the lids of the carbs with the cables In situ, so I dont wreck the cable settings ? I've got the two screws out on one side but the bugger wont budge and I dont want to prise It off. Also what else can I check In the carb If and when I get the tops off ? I would like to leave the top's hanging so I can just pop them back on.
I've already changes the float bowl gasket, and blown and the jet/housing In the float bowl. I thought that had It.... but alas not.

If you want to remove the carb tops you will have to remover the throttle and clutch cables, make a note of the number of threads on the adjusters to be able to put back in same place. You need to ensure both throttle cables are opening the carbs at the same time and enough slack to allow full return.

Ensure your choke cables allow full return of the choke and without the cable attached both chokes return fully by hand.
