What a useless POS! Every time I try and sync my TBs I get a different reading. If I tap it it moves again. There is no constant with these damn things:rolleyes:

So I;ll make up my own one ala teh recommendations on here. Just tubing and some liquid right. Is there a preference for what type of liquid?

I'll search for the "how tos" later, but if you have any tips I'd be glad to hear them.

Bloody Carbtune!:D

Build this, i'm sure it's better than that silly CarbTune in reliability if not even in accuracy and reading dealys.

Costs a few pennys + simple water from your WC and... works a threat!

can't understand the problem. my carbtune has been balancing carbs & FI for years with no problems at all

Me neither. They've always been kept inside but the rods had oxidised. I polished them and put some light oil on them and they seemed nice and free. But they dont work when connected to the bike, well they work, but not properly. They just keep sticking? I gave up and ended up setting the thing by ear and got it more even.
I haven' used them for a few years, but I always used to set up my old V twin Honda (and everyone elses) with them. I used to think they were brilliant.
Ah well they've served me well I suppose. Carbtune is dead, long live Carbtune:beerjug: :D

Think I've sussed it. It looks like the rods run in a brass bushing, which looks like that could use cleaning/polishing. I think I'll still make one like Tsiklonauts. When in Rome and all that.:D

As an update, I cleaned the brass bushings that the tube runs in and got a different reading again! They dont seem to be sticking anymore, but I'll knwo for sure when I try it in the morning.
Anyway, the point being, if you have a steel rod version of the carbtune be aware that the rods oxidise and so do the bushings they slide in. So after a good polish a small drop of 3-1 on each one before storing might be a good idea.

Get a set of vacuum gauges. Easy to strap to the handlebars to get a reading a 3000rpm under load - the only way to ensure absolutely correct synch. :)

Well one things for sure, its a gazillion times better now.:) I hope to get it on a dyno Monday. As its still bit "fluffy" it'll be interesting to see if that is down to the mixture or if the TBs are still out of sync? Although I'm more interested in seeing the a/f ratio graph and seeing what the Ebay chip is like.:)
