Finished the carburettor conversion project this week, (1100GS), so took the bike for it's first run today to see how far out the carburettor settings are.
The bike starts easiest by thumbing the starter button as you increase the amount of choke, once it's running, a slow count of 5 and the choke can be turned off.
Riding the bike was so different, it felt as if the engine balance factor had been changed, it is now absolutely smooth throughout the rev range, I couldn't find a harsh area at all.
Drive is linear, no awkward flat-spots at which cruising is uncomfortable.
The difference is incredible, it's as if the engine/carburettor package is as it was designed, then everything has been compromised by fitting a badly set-up injection system.
Summary: if you want the best set-up possible,(my opinion), fit RS pistons, cams and exhaust system, replace the injection system with carburettors and release the full potential of the engine.
Now to sort out next winter's modifications.....!
