Just in case you haven't been along here in a while, there are TWO new GATSOs going up - and they are close together, so be careful. Both are Eastbound only (at the moment - no road markings on westbound carriageway). Still some contractors kit there, but look ready to go.

First one is at Falmer, just after the University turnoff and roundabout (which is on your left). It's in the central reservation.

The second is shortly thereafter, again in the central reservation, just before the Texaco garage on the straight.

I've NEVER seen or heard of an accident anywhere near these places, so what the heck's going on...?

Went passed these this morning, never noticed accidents here either. i suppose they must be short of some cash,Christmas is coming, need to pay for the company do. oh there i go again........Speed Kills......must remember that.

gatsos

Thanks for the notice
There used to be a long traffic jam going the other way into Brighton every morning.
I think these gatsos are to create a traffic jam in the opposite direction to stop the people in the queue feeling jealous.
:D

Now if they'd put one on the eastbound downhill just before you get to Falmer a lot of people would be in the shite

Thanks for the timely warning - I'm off to Falmer first thing in the morning for a meeting. :thumb

If they were interested in saving lives they'd put them somewhere between Firle and Acliston where there is, on average, a serious injury/fatality every month.
Traffic rarely gets over 40mph though so less potential for easy money.

Indeed...

There are quite a few more dangerous bits of the A27 than a dead straight dual carriageway with no pedestrians, no junctions, etc, etc.

I suppose I can (partly) understand the crooked thinking about the one before the filling station. All the wrinklies returning to Eastbourne crawl out onto a fast moving dual caariageway. So how about a longer access lane? That may be the correct solution, but it COSTS mony, rather than making it... As for the one just after Falmer however, no justification that I can think of.

And yes, the single carriageway stuff to the east is much more dangerous. I've lost track of the number of dangerous overtakes I've seen along there.

Pity really, I thought Sussex was quite enlightened in its number and siting of cameras...

They should put one one either side of an eponymous village that you may know :hide

Covered at the moment...

With a rather fetching grey bonnet...

And a totally redundant 'Not in Use' sign

Of course, the bu**ers will wait until they see a GS coming along and whip off the hats, catching us all unawares. Must be the same numptys who closed the roundabout at Lewes last night, didn't put up ANY signs and sent us on a detour to Beddingham.

Prats.

Gatso's....

Boyz 'n' Galz,
The cameras have long gone and the white marks burnt from the carrageway:clap .... apparently they were only a temporary measure whilst lane one eastbound up to and including the garage was resurfaced.... for those synics amongst you .... they were only placed there to protect the workforce!....:augie
Geez....
