Just got a carpuride and all looks OK to install. It has straight battery connections but I was concerned about battery drain if you forget to turn it off etc. Has anyone connected via a switched connected feed? I have seen stuff about connecting into a 12 v wire but never done it before. I hope that makes sense!

Yes, the Carpuride 712D is designed to turn off automatically,
but its behavior depends on how it is installed.
  • ACC Ignition Switch (Recommended): If the 712D is wired to your motorcycle's ACC ignition switch, the device will automatically turn off when you turn off the engine, as power is cut.
  • Direct-to-Battery: If the 712D is wired directly to the battery, it may stay on, which can drain the battery. In this case, you must manually turn it off using the power button, or use the wired controller to shut it down.
  • USB Power: If powered by USB, it may continue to run until the USB power source turns off.
To avoid draining your battery, it is highly recommended to connect the 712D to the ACC (accessory) power source, which ensures it only operates when the bike is running

Now find a convenient ignition controlled 12 volt live. That’s not hard.

Wapping, Can I use the front BMW canbus plug to power?
