Cast wheels on an 08 12GSA?

....Why? ... because they are cheaper than spoked wheels ... keep the spoked ones with TKC's for off road and put the cast ones with road tyres on for my daily commute up and down the M4.

Does any one know what I have to do to make them fit? and in lieu of the tyre pressure sensors being present is there any way of fibbing to the receiver side so that Idon't have the warning light on all the time?

Many thanks

Andy

In theory you could get another set of tyre pressure sensors and fit them to the cast wheels as I believe the computer can be configured for 2 sets so that wheels can be changed - it would be a dealer visit for the computer reprogram though - and I would guess they might need both sets of wheels at the same time which might make for some interesting logistics

Is there any difference between the 08 & 07 model wheels - I don't think there is is there? I do this frequent swapping exercise on my 07 GS12 & the only difference is that you need shorter wheel bolts for the alloy wheels. Pressure sensor wise, the warning light seems to go out after a while but then works again fine when the signal is there. Hope this helps....

Hiya Dave, thanks for the reply.

Which bolts are too short? are they the ones for the back wheel?

p.s trying to get the 2nd wheels for our jaunt on Saturday!

wheels

The discs are 4mm futher apart (2mm each side) on the 08 model due to a change in the disc mounting bobbins.

When you put a pre 08 wheel in, the discs are too close together and do not run central in the callipers.
Would still work but looks odd with the discs not central in the callipers.:augie

I got round that problem by making up some 2mm thick shims which fit between fork leg and calliper thereby moving the calliper inwards the 2mm required to centre the discs in the callipers.:clap

This is on my 08 gsa.

The rear wheel bolts for the alloys are shorter than for the wire wheels

Hiya - didnt realise this was your alias!! The ones on spoked wheels are longer than the alloy wheel bolts.

Oh - and its Sunday, not Saturday!
