Any suggestions gratefully received:

I have the MS Office Enterprise 2007 DVD kindly supplied by my place of work for use at home - the problem is that when I load the disc into my player, it does not load - the light on the front of the drive blinks but no action at all.

I have already loaded to my laptop so the disc is OK.

I have run diagnostics on the drive and everything appears to say it is OK.

Errrr that is the limit of my techie ability other than trashing the drive and buying another - any (cheaper) ideas out there please?

Assuming you've done the obvious cleaning of the CD surface, copy it with the laptop if that's got a writer on it, or failing that stick a patch cable from the laptop to the desktop, network them and copy it across as an image (it's unlikely it'll install from a network resource)

If that doesn't work (or you don't fancy the aggro of setting up a LAN) buy a cheapo USB memory stick (well under a tenner for a gig stick in any high street shop) and copy the disc onto that, then plug the stick into the desktop and install it from there.

Oh, I lied BTW..the butcher's doesn't sell them.

Or the flower shop.

Or the estate agents :blast

Oh bum :o

EDIT....missed that it was a dvd...check the size before you buy the memory stick unless you can .rar.or .zip it in sections ;)

Could it be that there are various accounts on this computer ?

Perhaps you are not logged in as the "administrator"

Log into the admin's account (if you know it) or go to My Computer and right click on your CD/DVD drive whilst the disc is in it. Hopefully the second (?) line down should be "Run as Administrator" and click.

I might well be wrong... :thumb

Do try to keep up Bill 4gig for less than a tenner:thumb2

:eek:Nice one....(even though it is only from next Sunday :dabone) that's amazing really isn't it.....:thumb

I'm gonna get me one of those babies! :D

(one of the most useful things I ever bought was the one gig stick I got a long while back...the one Tuned found after another quick exit from the footie for England IIRC)

Thanks Dickieboy :kissy2
