Morning All,

I am off to St Tropez in June, and am planning to go from Portsmouth to Cean, My first stop over will be here www.route66.com has anyone ever stayed there?? it's a nice steady 300 miles. from Cean,.

Day 2 will be from Poitaire to St Tropez, 460 miles which can be done, (easily) but as I am on my other bike and not the GS it might be to far in a day. So any suggetions on stop overs say 300 miles or so from Poitaire would be appreciated

Are there any roads, routes or anywhere thats worth stopping at along the way that I should be including. I do not want motorways, and as picturess as possible.

thanks in advance

Andrew

Hi Jenks.....

I'm assuming you're landing in Caen & staying here:

Not stayed personally, but hear positive things....

I'd suggest plotting a 'D' road course that takes you through Le Mans & Tours......

......great biking roads, little traffic & always somewhere decent to stop for lunch etc.......

If you're into auto museums, the Automobile Museum de la Sarthe near Le Mans circuit is one of the best in Europe.....

Personally I'd split the journey into three 250 odd mile days to give myself time to pause in Tours, wander along the Loire etc........

Cheers

Dutchman,

I have been going to Le-Mans 24 hours (cars) for years, and driven it with the Classic races but have never been to the museum, It's now on the list.

An ex lived in Tours, so I'll be head down, throttle open through there. Shame really, a lovely town.

Youi'll be going to the Harley rally then - me and a few mates will be going there also.

We're arrving in Cherbourg on the evening of June 7th and aiming for Alencon (143 miles) for the first night and then Le Puy en Velay (360 miles) and then onto St Tropez (250 miles).

We'll be sticking to N and D roads but will use A roads to circumvent major towns and cities.
