Call it fait or what ever you wish, whilst giving the GSA a much needed scrub, I managed to dislodge the small plastic cover, fitted to the rear brake lever, just above the pivot.
Whilst refitting, I happened to notice the swing arm bolt hanging out, or so I thought, when I tried to tighten, I found the bolt had sheared.
Is this a common fault or am I just unlucky? (R1200GSA, 2006).
I've drilled out re-tapped and re-newed the bolt + replaced the bolt on the other side.
Just thought I'd give everyone a shout.

Centre stand bolts

Yes, it certainly was a common fault - I had the RH bolt sheered & replaced under guarantee very soon after I bought my new 1200GS in 2004. About the only fault I had in 4 years.
No problems after that but I did make an effort to keep the pivots of the stand clean by hosing around there. They do take a strain - strangely the 1150 GS went straigt onto its stand with little effort (but sadly trundled off it on a slight slope a few times) The 2004GS required a real effort and a knack to get it on the stand; the 2008 model drops onto it with no lifting or heaving - just a steady pressure with the right foot. All clever stuff;
