Does anyone know the difference between a G/S and Paralever centre stand?

Motobins have a new paralever one for £40 and my ST one will be too short with bigger wheels, longer shock and TKC80s. A new Paralever stand for less than a used G/S seems a good plan if it fits.

Slightly 'too tall' is OK if that's the only difference.

Talk to the chaps at Motobins, tell them what you're doing and they will advise.

I've found them extremely helpful in the past.

D'oh! I was doing exactly that for a while this afternoon, sorting out side panel, mudguard and lever protectors options, and never thought to ask them about the stands.:blast

I'll call in the morn, before my order is despatched. :thumb2

Centre of pivot bolt to the floor measured vertically: 1989 R100GS 30 cms, 1981 R80G/S 26cms

Note that the design of the stands is completely different and on the G/S is much more inclined.

Angle?

G/S stand leans back more than the GS although it may just be worn. It's only a few degrees so wouldn't make any real difference to the height.

Moto ins weren't sure, but I've ordered it, so I'll be either:

A - feeding back that it works, or

B - posting an link to the 'sidestand bought in error' post in the 'For sale' section.

Success! :thumb2

It bolted straight on to the same holes & bushes, clipped on to the same springs & holds the bike more stable, by being wider at the base.

Most importantly, it's given me the height to accommodate the G/S length shock with 3" under the front (19") tyre; enough to accommodate a 21" and still get a wheel clear of the ground.

When stowed 'up' it hits the aftermarket exhaust collector just before the plastic 'stop' lands on the frame, so I'll just have to pad the gap and then it's perfect.

£40 well spent.:beerjug:
