Centre stand O-rings

Evening folks,

doing a bit of general maintenance and found the centre stand o-rings on the stand bearing in a poor condition, so the question is

will Nitrile O-rings be fine or do I need the Viton material ? I would have thought the Nitrile would be fine since there not in a high temp/ corrosive enviroment (IE fuel) any advice ?

I changed and lubed them last summer, after the part that you press with your foot broke down (it was rusted on ~ 75% of the surface, where it meets the stand).

The o-ring dealer did not mention the material they ware made of, but I guess that the most important is heat coming from the exhaust.

Looks like Nitrile will be fine, I finally found a site that listed the differences and it's not as a huge as I thought, see below

News to me that Nitrile and Viton are not both black:confused:

Where I used to work both types were used, had to be correctly identified by keeping in lightproof packets clearly labelled, as once they were together there was no way of differentiating between them.

Viton was used for aggresive fuels, like tallow.
 
I'll be replacing mine as well. Where did you source yours Roddy?

I now have an engine and transmission on blocks on the garage floor:D

Next step seperate those as well.
