I find putting my 650 GS on its centre stand rather difficult. Have ridden a few other bikes and found them much easier compared to my 650. Find it harder when full of fuel (obvioulsy!!! lol) But i find putting my huuby's 1200GS easier than mine. Has anyone else found this or is it just cos i am a girl ?????? lol are there any after market centre stands that are easier to use?

Wife has a 650gs and has the same problem, think it,s just a case of finding the right "knack" and having the confidence to go for it,
she dos,nt like trying unless I,m near enought to catch it if it starts to go :mmmm so opts for the side stand...
kinda make,s me think she,s beaten before she start,s :nenau
That said she does find it funny when I drop my 1150 :(

Poetic justice I supose :D :D

650GS's are a nightmare, nowhere to grab to hoist, except the nearside rear pillion hanger and it's a delicate operation or you burn yer mitts on the exhaust header :spitfire

Me too!

Hi - just for moral support :clap - it's not just you and it's not just girls (although my hubby finds his 650 easy to put on the CS). I have found the centre stand hard - I had an ER5 and a scooter before (a big scooter) and they were both much easier than the 650. :bow Love the bike though so can't say anything else. :D

Try to put 80% of your "force" on the stand (thus on your foot) and just sligthly "lead" with your right hand.

It should go up much smooter.

Awaiting the good news.... :thumb

Cheers :beerjug:

Bluejay's right, but work out a ballence point that you are comfortable with and find a good place to put your right hand 'limited as it is'.

Hold the handlebars straight with your left hand. Place your right hand on the grab rail at the back of the bike.
When you first put the stand to the floor with the ball your right foot, rock the bike gently side to side to make sure that both feet of the stand are on the ground.(Now the bike is upright and ballenced) Now whilst pressing down gently on the stand with your right foot, rest your right knee against the side of the bike. Now lean your sholders over the saddle and stand up on the ball of your right foot staightening your right leg and lifting your left foot off the ground ( as long as you are pressing down or standing on the stand and both it's feet, and both tyres are on the ground, and your waight is far enough over the saddle, the bike can't fall over). Now, you should be standing with the ball of your right foot on the leaver arm of the centre stand, right leg straight, left leg off the ground, left hand holding the bars straight 'Not turned' right hand holding the grab rail, sholders leaning over the saddle, your head looking at the ground on the other side of the bike (all ballenced and acrobatic-like) Now with your right arm straight pull the grab rail towards you steadily and firmly (don't try to jurk it) at the same time press down firmly with your right foot ( Do Not try to pull with your left arm, just hold the bars straight) 'Now here's the magic bit' Lift your head up and look at the sky whilst at the same time straightening your back, pulling with your right arm and pushing ALL your waight down into your right foot, Bonk! the bike is now on it's stand :thumb

Go have a beer you've earned it. :beerjug: Unless of corse you want another go :D

Hey there V,
Well - you would be proud of my hubby then cause he pretty much told me what you had said to do re the centre stand on Sunday when I was struggling to get the bike onto it. A comprehensive explanation tho'! Dead impressed me dear!! :bow
