Would anyone have any idea about a slipping ceramic clutch?

I bought the bike,an 02 1150gs,and was told that there was a ceramic clutch fitted 3k miles ago. However since I have had the bike the clutch has been slipping.

What I was wanting to find out is,

At that mileage the clutch should be fine,so are there any simple things I can do to see if I can cure the slip?

I have read on here that a blown gearbox seal will let oil onto the clutch plate thus destroying it,will a ceramic clutch be destroyed by oil contamination or can it be saved?

Any help would be greatfully appreciated.

My advice is to give Bracken or Touratech a bell. I was going to have one of these fitted a few years ago, but basically got told that it would slip until it was 'bedded in', and bedding in required some pretty serious abuse/heat or something. Can't remember exactly what was required, but certainly it was extreme enough for me to go for an ordinary one instead.

Lord God and master of all things metal that moves :bow :bow :bow (Steptoe to the rest of you) said i think there is a spacer you have to remove after so many miles with the ceramic clutch....
maybe that's it:nenau

Thanks Tuned, i'll now take my turn to speak at the table.

Try removing the 1st set of clutch spacers - There should be two sets fitted with a ceramic clutch.

The second set may need removing in about 40K miles ( as a rough guide) .

One other thing to consider - There are a lot of fake ceramic clutches out there. So be careful if buying off ebay.

Good luck on your mission.

Thank you for your replies.

I will have a check for the spacers and see if there are indeed 2 sets.

Is it possible to get access to them by just taking off the starter motor?

Thanks again for the help.
