I am changing the clutch on my 2001 gs1150 adv, after 60,000km's it's started slipping. I've bought a lucas sintered clutchplate from wunderlich and the rest from my local expensive BMW dealer I am also fitting new engine seals while the gearbox is off. It all seems pretty straight forward (I've got a haynes manuel) just time consuming. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks.:):)

lots of info on here about changing clutch , especially steptoe`s tip on removing gearbox and drivetrain in one

I used one of these for centring the clutch and it worked a treat :thumb2

Take your time, use new clutch bolts, if you really need to change the crank seals, make sure you fit them square. to fine tune the clutch centreing, find the advice about loosly fitting the clutch bolts and turning the engine a few times via the alternator pulley bolt to centre and the starter gap to tighten the clutch bolts before torquing. Piece of piss and makes sure its centred.

Oh, and you don't need to remove the rear subframe, you just need to pivot it up via the front bolts as per pics posted before.

I've bought a tool off e-bay for 10euro to centre the clutch and orderd 6 new bolts, thanks:beerjug:

Another good thing is to follow the BMW manual. I did so + advice from here and advrider and it all went well :thumb2
