From David Moen on Advrider G-spot:

"I make the filter part of the oil change less messy by poking a hole in the bottom of the filter and letting it drain completley before applying the wrench. This almost eliminates the mess."

Just make sure you can actually undo the filter before you make a hole in it.

But i'm curious . Just how much mess does undoing a filter make ???? :nenau

My feeling is that this would be better discussed with Mr D Moen on the Advrider forum....
As an engineer, I made a point in asking other engineers "why" before I formed an opinion.... Often, the logic was rational......:nenau

aaaw!

thats ruined it for me!

i enjoy the challenge of undoing the fiilter as fast as possible so as to avoid the oil running down my arm and up my sleeve!:D

honestly some people!
