As to the point made about newer tyres being of better manufacture, I would agree but I haven't found one that didn't need "some" additional weight/s. To be sure, if you needed to change a tyre on a trail, I wouldn't go though the task of balancing. However, if I wanted that tyre to last ( together with my overworked suspension) I would have it checked at my earliest convenience....

Others may disagree but that's just me...

I balance mine, don't forget the painted dot on the side of the tyre is the lightest point & should be placed where the air valve is... ...

That depends on the manufactura, some dot the heaviest point.

I found that on older tyres, what manufacturers now dot heavy steppers...
