Just added some cheap peace of mind to my bike. Nearly touring time and had a spare voltmeter lying around. So wired it up. It looks quite neat. I might have gone for red which would probably be more in tune with the dash. But blue is quite cool.

Well worth the effort. It seems really rather pointless until the battery starts to fail then you'll see the trend change after each engine start.

You could stick some red gauge zoning stuff over the top if the blue is too bright at night.

I have been let down by a rectifier going bad before (Not BMW) so for the few quid it costs it is a good piece of mind.

I had a voltage regulator fail on a Yamaha 900. The engine electronics survived but the battery got fried. I have a voltmeter on the GS. Costs very little and it's good to know whats happening in the battery department.

I am thinking of doing the same. Would you mind post a pic that show how you fastened the voltmeter?
Where did you connect it electrically (is the connection that often gets used for powering a GPS suitable?)?

This one looks small enough to fit above the clocks either through or onto a security cover plate. Others are stuck on with number plate tape.

Here it is with flash. A little better photo.

Meter is attached with double sided 3M tape. All prepped to last. Wiring is to 12v supply under seat. The wire with the red stripe is positive. On my bike anyway.
