My GS 1150 suffers from the usual surging problems and various members recommend the Techlusion performance controller. Wunderlich sell one and seaching further afield through fleabay found an American company who supply a Techlusion/Revtech electronic jet kit.....at the current exchange rate, £115 including insured postage which seems to be a bargain compared to the Wunderlich price!

BUT

can anyone tell me if it's the same as the Wunderlich item in different clothes or just a cheap imitation?

Shortcut as follows:

:nenau 93 views to this thread and not one reply.......I thought this info could be useful to loads of you out there seeing as there's so many threads about performance controllers and the exhorbitant prices charged by the manufacturers/distributors.......but no, you're all too busy talking about crap catchers and indicator modifications and obviously have no time for important issues like engine performance....ANY PETROL HEADS OUT THERE? :nenau

MatPP, had similar surging problems. Resorted to the cheap, butveffective solution as described by Steptoe.- Removing the Cat plug and changing the configuration. It may not suit all machines but it did my 02 GSA

Techlusion

AFAIK (I don't have a unit) but Techlusion R259 is the popular unit - have you tried "Ask the seller a question"?

My GS doesn't surge but from memory balancing the throttle bodies helps (there is a procedure ignition off/on/off or something - never had to try it myself).

Are you running a Remus? I have a Y and std can - the Y and Remus can ran a bit lean and was LOUD!

And finally, have you got the right CCP link in the injection relay (look up "Steptoe mod")?

Hope this helps, even if it doesn't answer your original question

20,000 kms service undertaken last week by French BMW garage and no more surging...now a joy to ride again. :D

I "asked the seller a question" about his techlusion product and this was his reply:
"The Techlusion/Revtech is the name of the part, and they are both manufactured by Dobeck Performance. This should be identical to the part sold by Wunderlich. Let me know if you have any questions, or if there is anything else I can do for you."

Can anyone shed some light on the subject as his reply makes no sense to me whatsoever and I'm still none the wiser. :nenau

Hey matpp Seatle Petal.

I viewed the Thread and nothing to add. Hey Cobber I hope someone does for you? All the Best bloke. I ride an old 1100 and have no problems? Well, broken oil rings which I'm waiting on Parts? Sniff, sniff?? I think it was George Washington that once Said? " If you sit in the one place long enough? The whole world will pass you by "? Chill Man grab a Beer, we will get to you. BIGJim Tasmania. Australia. :beerjug: :beerjug: :beerjug:

Jim - I hope you've ordered the parts from Sherlocks in the UK - much quicker than Aus suppliers and just as cheap cos they remove the tax :thumb.

Mattpp - The Techlusion/Revtech is the name of the part, and they are both manufactured by Dobeck Performance. This should be identical to the part sold by Wunderlich.

what question are you asking ? I've got one on my 1100 and it just richens the mixture at certain definable points - its good.
i paid £40 used for mine from someone on here :thumb.
Dobeck do make the part - and an excellent website too.

Don't buy wunderlich is the answer tho :nenau

:( BigJim, it's all that bloody dust out there....hope you get back on the road soon.....

:clap MotoMartin......thanks for the swift reply....you answered my question and i've looked at the website only to discover Dobeck manufacture two different performance controllers: the one on US fleabay (part 1030) and the other (part R259).

Which type are you running and is it worth paying £100 for the pleasure?

I certainly won't buy from Wunderlich at the price there charging.

It looks like the earlier version Teclusion which you have to splice into one of the injector wires. The 259 ones just plug in.
The only problem with these things is unless you have a dyno thing, a bit of guesswork is required when setting it up.
Despite extensive searching, I havnt found definitive settings yet. Have a search !
Some say disconnect the lamda sensor , some dont. Some say remove the coding plug, some dont.
You would think that settings would have been found for each different configuration. ie, . remus+ cat. y piece + standard can. remus+y piece.
I know every engine is different, but you would think that there would be a starting set up.
It seems to improve performance but you will notice a substantial increase in fuel consumption.

Heres my email to Dobeck :

Hi there,
I have been offered a Techlusion 1030 from another bike . ( he's selling on ).
He has the techlusion for a R1150 GS ADV ( 2003 - twinspark )
My bike is an R1100GS ( 1997 ) - single spark and no oxygen sensor.
Can you let me know if this Box will work with my bike - do i need to change connectors /wiring etc. If so can you supply parts etc.

Heres the reply :

the 1030 will work fine with your application also. i've attached a copy of the instructions for you to use.

just for info here :

the 1030 i got was the type you were supposed to use with 'crimp-on' wire connectors. ( i soldere spliced mine in )

I thought the instructions were pretty clear on setup Den ? :nenau

The flylead wires on the techlusion box were long enough for me to leave the box wedged between the seat and the tank - so i could see the led's operate at certain load/ throttle positions - which i then 'tweaked' at the next set of lights :).
After a week or so, when i was happy - i fixed in onto the top of the airbox :thumb

:thumb Den, thanks for your swift reply...Dobeck's instructions look pretty comprehensive though.

:clap MotoMartin, I didn't excpect that much info and thanks; it makes interesting reading. At first I thought you didn't sleep, then noticed you're in OZ....love the avatar......

For information, the Techlusion unit for sale on US fleabay clearly states "The bike's on board computer and wiring harness remain intact, with no wires needed to be cut" It doesn't mention splicing and looking at the picture in the advert, there's some scotchlock looking connectors included in the kit.

Is it worth buying.....I'll wait till the bike starts surging again and have a rethink.
