I'm riding from holyhead to dover on my way to belgium in about two weeks and I want to pick up a set of Vario Panniers along my trip. The shop needs to be within 30mins of This Route. Of course I'm looking for the cheapest available. Any suggestions anyone.

Well a good starting point just for referance is Brand New with locks - £459 RRP inc VAT

I only know this 'cos BMW are now offering free varios on all new 1200's.

(Adventure panniers £603, free with all new Adventures)

BMW dont give anything for free.

Mine is a 1200gs. I'm hoping to get something off the rrp;). I'm not sure what sort of discounts you can get these days.

Are you not more likely to get a good price from a dealer you have a relationship with rather than one that doesn't know you from Adam?

Cheapest price in Dublin is €750(£646) at todays rate. The only relationship Irish dealers want to have is with your wallet. That's not strictly true but it sounded good. They are friendly and helpfull too.

Fair Enough..! The boys at North Oxford will likely do you a good deal if you ask nicely... got a decent discount when I bought varios for my 650 there this year :augie

I talked to Paul in Chester a few days ago. They were the cheapest of 5 places I called, but not by a big amount. Less than 5% off the rrp. It seems that bmw garages still don't do deals. I think I'll get a second hand set on ebay.

I happen to have a mint condition set for sale and I am en route, didn't mention it before as I thought you were after new. You have PM :thumb

I don't think BMW dealers are big on deals generally...unless they know you personally, and are a regular customer, and you might then get a 'good will' deal.

The dealer network isn't that huge, so a search on the BMW web site would bring up all those near to your route..and that should be quite a few on the route you're taking.

But I would guess that the prices wouldn't vary by that much :nenau

I would say Dellis' offer could be what your after, to save some cash :thumb2

(no connection with Dellis what-so-ever BTW)

sorry but I was late on my subscription and Ukgser cut me off like an embarassing gay son:ymca. . Even BT give you second notice :ronno.
You have a PM.

Thanks for the panniers Dave, they are great. I got the locks done at BMW Brussels who did it for FREE!!!. Really nice guys too.
