Anyone with a 08 GSA with pannier frames which were 'factory/dealership fitted' need to check that all the bolts are still in place as many are vibrating/coming loose and falling out.:(

When cleaning mine last weekend i noticed that the rear side bolt (just below the rear seat and that goes through a bush) was missing. I returned to dealer to be advised that "quite a few people had returned with the same problem, saying that the factory had not chosen (THINK CHOSEN IS BMW TALK FOR FORGOT:rolleyes:) to loctite the bolts".
Not being on the bike I was soon provided a new bolt and a bottle of loctite. Note, this bolt is a 'special', due to length and only comes as part of the complete frame bolt pack. All covered under warranty though just need bike ID and reg number.

Well worth checking all frame bolts and securing with loctite, i have;).

Will they ever learn?

Not just the pannier frame

Rode my 08 GSA home from dealer 2 weeks ago and one top box mounting frame bolt was missing (marks showed it had been there) and opposite one hanging on the last few turns. Bike had just over 50 miles on the clock. Checked the pannier mounts and was able to take a turn or more on 3 of the mounting bolts on that.

I took the screen off to mount the GPS and the domed nuts which stop the adjuster screws coming right out on both screen adjusters were only finger tight.

Then after 200 miles I noticed the rear mudguard was flapping about a bit. All the mounting screws took at least 3 turns to tighten.

I am not sure which of the above are factory fitted and which are fitted by the dealer when the bike is built up.

I doubt the bikes come out of the boxes with screens and top box mountings.
