I was giving my bike a good coat of looking at on Sunday when I noticed this:

Plenty of threadlock on there but no nut.
This seems to be one of the main engine to frame mounts - long M12 bolt (HT 10.9). Supposed to be 110Nm on this nut.

The bike is almost due for a service. It's not been quite a smooth as it was. I put it down to valve clearance and throttle synch not being spot on. However, having found an M12 nut in the garage (not 10.9 ) and tightened it up it now runs as smooth as last time it was serviced. I'm sure the gear change is a bit smoother too but not sure why that would be.

As to why that nut came off with all that threadlock on there :nenau

Looks to me like the nut has been missing for a very long time....if it'd come off recently there'd be a clean spot where it had sat?
Hard to imagine that it's vibrated off with all that thread lock - removed and forgotten at a service/repair?

I did wonder if it had ever had a nut on there but it was slighly cleaner where the nut would have sat so I think it has vibrated off.

It should never have been taken off for any service or repair (I've had the bike from new).
