Apparently my new tent has arrived and my wife has given it an appraisal based on box size and weight.

“That’s not fitting in a Mazda MX5 you idiot.”

My reply?

“It’ll fit in your BMW estate so what’s the issue?”

….And it’ll come in handy when we return that damned camper van.

I’ve told her not to worry, it’ll be me and the big black Labrador using it and we’ll have a great time with me drinking beer and the dog just looking on and shaking her head in disgust.

I freely admit it, the dog is far more intelligent than me when it comes to alcohol consumption but can she drive a car and pitch a tent? Can she bollocks so I win :D

currently (last 7 years) or so when I want a bigger tent, I have a robins Klondike. it is heavy and slightly bulky View attachment 329947but we picked it up as an ex demo tent for about 200 quid! my wife rides her own bike (F800GS) so the extra weight on mine does not matter..... when friends commented I asked if any of their partners weighed less than 16kg... and if they did they may want to be on a Register with the old bill!
however, its a good tent, still going strong, just faded in colour slightly

I had wondered what became of Billy Smart's Big Top!

Big day tomorrow, I’m going home and I can take my new toys out of their boxes but actually trying them out is a distant dream because I’ll only be home for about 18hrs.

Never mind, at least I can look at them :D

Hmm, the pack size and weight are a bit excessive but probably not much more than my Force 10 and I get the benefit of being able to stand up. I guess it will fit in the footwell of the MX5 but there’s a good reason the wife has an estate :D

Good luck standing up in it. The blurb says 180cm and I’m sure that’s without the inner. :nenau

Are they trying them out over a February night high up in the Cairngorms?

Doesnt have to be that extreme. A few years ago HN and I went to the book festival in Wigtown. We rented a static caravan at a site just outside the town. (Micky's a regular there but they let us stay anyway! :D)

A hoolie blew up overnight and the folk who'd been setting up a family tent when we arrived had disappeared, leaving a shredded tent behind.
