Chrome wrapped panniers - legality of?

Afternoon All,

Sitting here thinking about wrapping my GSA pannier lids in carbon and panniers themselves in chrome.

However:

1. Am not too sure on the legality. Not aware of anything specific in the con & use regs 1986. Road Vehicle Lighting Regs refer to undue dazzle, but only in the context of a light emitted from a light fitted to a vehicle i.e headlamp.

2. Not sure how the Swiss authorities, Gendarmes or Carabinieri would 'see' it?

Mine are wrapped in reflective vinyl, black all round except the backs which are red, the black reflects white and the red reflects red when light hits them at night.
You could conceivably be judged to be showing a white light to the rear with the reflection from chrome, this is why I put red on the backs.

Still waiting to be told panniers are ready. Sadly have had to make some compromises. The carbon effect I wanted on the lids cannot be done as would be unable to match the 'weave' when wrapping separately around the 4 brackets/latching points on the top surface of the lids. Secondly as the chrome wrap contains metal, it will not seat over the rivets on the sides of the panniers without marking - so would look a bit like a cats dinner.

So have had to go with what the wrappers have suggested in terms of the next nearest colours and effects to that of my original carbon and chrome....................

I recall seeing that parked on the yellow lines beside Kendals a few summers ago. Actually looked quite impressive......
