I have just downloaded City Nav Europe 2013 from the Garmin Website on to my Montana 600. Using basecamp i can only see city Nav map when i plug the Montana in to the computer. Can i copy a version onto my computer so i can see it when the Montana is not plug in?

Thanks

If it's anything like the road going sat nav update process then about 4 pages in you missed the button at bottom left saying 'install options' or some such. Clicking that will give you options to install to GPS, GPS and PC or just PC. You now need to do the whole thing again but choose the last option.

You only get the option to download to the Montana and it has to be conected to the PC otherwise it wont download.
Just wondered if i can copy the file form the Montana and save it on the PC so it will open in Basecamp? :blast

I agree with what Bumpkin said. When you use the Garmin Map Updater, there is an option tab a few pages in. Did you see that and access it?

It is dependent on what you have purchased.
If you look on the Garmin website it is quite clear.

If you use the download or SD card option to purchase the product then it willl only be available on the computer if the DEVICE IS CONNECTED.

If you have purchased the product using the DVD option it will be visible on the computer even if the device is not connected but it will require it TO BE AUTHORIZED first.

Advantages / Disadvantages.

Download - not upgradable ( to upgrade need to buy new product) but can put it on a large SD card. However it is locked to one device. Device MUST be connected to view on a computer

SD card - not upgradable ( to upgrade need to buy new product) but can use it on many devices by moving the SD card. Device MUST be connected to view on a computer

DVD - upgradable , locked to one device. Can be viewed on the computer if device not connected.

Hope this explains
