I bought a Zumo a month ago, downloaded Mapsource NT 2008 from the DVD and then downloaded the free update to NT 2009 via the web. I've now changed computer and whilst I can download the NT 2008 from the DVD again, my free update to NT 2009 has expired. Does anyone know if it's possible to get the 2009 version from my old computer and transfer it to the new one?

I'll apologise in advance if there is a blindingly obvious simple fix, but I'm computer ignorant.

Thanks

Tim

Tim, Did you register your Zumo? If you did then you will have the unlock code, if you didn't Garmin will give it to you when you do register. Ask Garmin to send you a DVD or ask someone on here for a copy, the important thing is the unlock code which is tied to your Zumo.

I suspect you haven't registered so it might be worthwhile finding out when the next update to CN is due, if it is early next year you should hang on until then. As far as I know Garmin do not have a cut off date for registration and they issue the latest maps to newly registered customers irrespective of the date they purchased their units.

This is my understanding but I am not 100% sure of it so hopefully someone else will confirm aye or nay.

The date that Garmin use when determining if a free map upgrade is allowed is the date the Zumo first acquired a satellite fix (read this on the Zumo Forum). You have to connect your Zumo to t'Web via your PC to check if you are eligible for the free upgrade, and it seems to read the date of the first satellite fix at this point. I'm not sure what would be the earliest date that would give you an FOC upgrade to the 2009 maps - but I know it is definitely not April 08!

If that's true then it might be worth doing a full reset before hooking it up to Web Updater.
