HI
i have an old streetpilot ii
and im looking to update to 2009 or later
currently running 2008 none nt
i was told i can not use the nt version by someone on a forum
can someone tell me the difference and why i can not use the nt version,
don't really want to spend money unless it works
but i can only seem to find Europe nt versions
thanks

You can't use City Navigator NT in an old Streetpilot. The NT is a different compression standard which also supports text to voice to enable the newer GPS units to speak street names.

I don't think there is a non NT update for 2009. :nenau

2009 non NT

Hi

There is a 2009 version available, I have a 2610 and I got the latest version in April. I tried retailers in the UK, don't touch GPS Wharehouse, they replied to my Emailed question that they had the latest version and then sent the old one! When I tried to send it back they refused to refund the postage. Luckily I paid on a credit card so the card company with-held payment. I got the 2009 version by filling in the form on the Garmin site ( have a stiff drink and think calm thoughts first) The disc arrived a few weeks later ( no charge) and then I had to pay an unlock fee. I think it was 75 dollars so less that the Uk based bandits wanted. For me the update is perfect. We are 40 mins from the Slovenian border, with the old version I got one Slovenian motorway and the rest said " here be dragons" . Now I have all the roads and bloody fantastic they are too.

If anyone needs further details let me know. I might not be able to respond straight away as we are coming into our busy season but I will do my best.

John
