OK, I have my nice ' n shiny v9 City Navigator. I've loaded it, unlocked it, and yet.......... Why does v8 have much more detail on it? Why does v9 have a yellow box with "Map Detail Locked" in the bottom left hand corner? No doubt, this is the reason I haven't been able to download v9 to my card! Any answers please?

By the way, my unlock code is stored on the Garmin website, When I unlock it, either through the Garmin site or by manually typing in my 25 digit unlock code, it tells me each time that I have successfully unlocked v9, except it obviously isn't unlocked!!!! :spitfire

It's difficult to answer this one. I suspect that you haven't unlocked CN9.

My suggestion about contacting Garmin was serious. I would consider myself competent with GPSs & Garmins - and I still had to ring them when updating CN8 to CN9. Turns out, I had registered under 2 user names, and was trying to unlock using the wrong one. To compound the problem, my 2610 was a Garmin replacement, with a bunch of new codes etc, etc.

Ring them, they are very helpful. And then tell us what sorted the problem :thumb2

Exact same thing happened to me, got the same message "You have
successfully unlocked v9", which I had, but not for the particular device I
was trying to load the maps to. I even wonder will any 25 digit code get
that message, but obviously won't allow loading of maps to any GPS unit.

The code was valid, but not for the Quest and didn't allow transfer of maps.
So I rang Garmin and got a new code.:o

Cheers, I have uninstalled v9 and reinstalled it. I have tried manually entering the 25 digit code and using the code that I have stored on the Garmin website. Each time I get told that I have successfully unlocked the v9 maps. When I try to use the v9 maps, I get the "map detail locked" in a yellow box in the bottom right hand corner. I don't get the full detail and I can't copt the maps to a card. Fortunately, I can still use v8!!!!

Cheers lads :thumb I contacted Garmin and a very nice lady named Lucresia told me that "I need to generate a new code". So I went to onto the Garmin site and did just that. Result! :thumb2
