Hi

Just been away with my friend, I've got a 2610, he has a recently acquired Zumo 550, and I was paying close interest in his 550 because I'm getting tempted. Yes his 550 hung twice, but we managed to re-start it with POWER-+ etc, but what I saw a a step backwards was the difference in the way we could search for places.

Take "Sainte Menehoul" for instance. On my 2610 I could just filter for "Mene" and a second later there it was. On the 550 we had to spell it all out correctly. Now from what I remember some of the places we had to spell exactly right "sainte" rather than "saint", but generally we thought it was a bit of a pain.

Is there anyway to make the 550 "filter" rather than "spell"?

On his 550 hanging - what do you reckon, send it back?

Send it back, they cost enough. Has your mate kept his up to date? Did a couple of tests on mine. Got CADI of cadigan road and was given several options. Is that the filtering you are talking about?

OK I'll get him to send it back - as you say ~£400 is enough for it to work.

In terms of filtering, it is more that with the Zumo you need to spell from the start of the word - "CADI" in your example, where as on the 2610 I can search for "IGAN" and still get it. Not the worlds best example but with all the "saint-de-le-" type names in France my ability (2610) to just enter "Marie" for example rather than "saint-de-le-marie" was a real boon. Especially as our paper maps often left out the prefix.

cheers
