I had a remus Y piece fiited a couple of months ago. It started to backfire now and then. i did search the threads and got the idea that it was ok. im no so sure now.

Can anyone tell me, the picture shows the end can(standard) onto the Y piece,

Now.

Should there be a clamp on this join.

The dealer hasnt fitted one so surely its not needed:confused:

BUT

Also when the engine has started the condesation is leaking and blowing through the join.
This must be the cause of the back fireing??

Please tell me if there is ment to be a clamp of some sort, and if so, why didnt the dealer fit it??

Thanks so much.

Yep, that joint should be clamped, it's not airtight and you will be blowing past it and may even be sucking air into the system also. Take it back to the dealer and insist they fit it correctly.

Looks like theres a bit missing.. the shiny bit which comes as standard is a sleeve with a clamp on the back. When i fitted a y piece with the standard can the shiny sleeve went back on the bike fine... here it is with standard set up.. Bryn

I don't think any of the 1150's have clamps, mine certainly didn't have one,but if yours is backfiring you could try some exhaust putty on the joins.Andy

Here is a picture of my OE can,as you can see there are no slots cut in the connection piece so it cannot be clamped/squeezed to the Y piece. The part you are missing is just cosmetic, but I would deffo get it back anyway.Andy

You could just lose the tinny thing and get your grinder out and cut those nasty looking brackets off, looks better without IMHO.Andy

My ETK catalogue shows this as a "Finisher with clamp" & mine is certainly the clamp which seals the Remus to the Y piece. The older ones were mounted onto the collector box outlet pipe using three bolts & those "nasty brackets" as Andy mentioned.

HTH,

.

Yes Paul you are right the later bikes did have a clamp incorparated into it.Andy
