Hello all - can anyone help with a suggestion for the best place to advertise my husband's classic 1980 Yam SR500 in really original condition? Is there a similar forum to this one for instance, which specialises in classic Jap bikes or similar? Or are we left with EBay? Wise suggestions gratefully received:D

Why not post it up with some photo's on here?

Plenty of diverse interests on this site

Mmmmm - I just checked that one out but it's a 'project' - really rusty, grotty and not running. John's is in lovely condition, has had plenty of money spent, runs beautifully, starts first time mainly and he's only asking what he paid for it. The only similarity between these bikes is the make and model.

If John was to post some more detailed photos which highlight its condition, that might help :thumb

Thank you Glynn:), do you think it's worth trying again on here then? He put quite detailed pics I think, I'll have to have another look at them - but the EBay one really doesn't compare - it's in a state and fairly described by the sellers as a 'project'; also who knows how much needs to be done to the engine to get it going:eek?

I agree about the state of the eBay item, but it is significantly cheaper and so it all comes down to the value placed by the purchaser on the better condition of John's bike.

I would say that the photos in John's post do not should the condition of the bike at all well whereas the eBay advert does (to its detriment in this case).

This is a tough time to sell a bike. I recently took 3 months to sell an 02 GS for £3100! That does make the price of a 1980 SR500 look high! But then there aren't many SR500s about...

Anyway, good luck with the sale..

More pics and detailed close-us will help

With classics, condition is everything and your pics from 20' away do you no credit whatsoever
