I used the oven cleaner yesterday evening and it worked a treat. used a spray variety of it, sprayed into back of fins and it foams up to nfill all the void. Left for a couple of hours, wire brushed what i could(outer inch) and washed off with garden hose. Dried off in a fan oven as I want to paint it black so want as little rust as possible in there. Repeated today and it has taken off all the baked on oil. I should mention however that the fins on the bike I was working on are cast iron and the cleaner doesn't appear top rreact with that. I did try to use it to get some carbon deposits off an aluminium piston and yes you guessed it-it turned the metal black/grey. that's ok though as it'll polish off the piston easily enough. Since I think the airhead Gs fins are alu or alloy I'D JKEEP THE OVEN CLEANER WELL AWAY UNLESS YOU ARE PREPARED TO POLISH UP AFTERWARDS.
