Cleaning textile clothes

Hi
I have a Revit suit. Can anyone recommend a safe way to clean textile clothing without loosing the waterproofing.
Can I put it in the washing machine

I usually wash ours in the washing machine without adding washing powder/fabric softner on a quick wash. Also would add a drop of Nikwax at the same time

Q: How do I wash / clean my REV'IT! Textile Gear?
A: The most simple and effective approach is gentle hand washing in warm water if wiping down with a damp cloth won’t do the trick. Before attempting any washing, remove all liners and armor. We cannot "officially" recommend it, however, using a front loading washer on gentle / cold cycle for care and hang to air dry. NEVER use a top loading washer as the center agitator can severely damage your gear and NEVER use fabric softener. Over time the DWR (Direct Water Repellancy) coating on the outer shell can wear off. We recommend Nikwax for replenishing the moisture beading properties to the outer shell of REV'IT! garments.

I throw mine (Rev-it)in the washing machine on a quick wash having taken out all the linings and armour and always comes up a treat, do it once or twice a year.

The waterproof linings can also be done on a quick wash using 'tech wash' for waterproofs (gortex).

Several of my riding buddies all wear Rev-it stuff and all do the same with no problems.

I wash mine on a wool wash with pure soap flakes, then back in with TX-direct wash-in, and then once dry spray with a light covering of Fabsil.

You're not going to get the oily smears out like that.....

Treat those with Swarfega and a nail brush, if necessary.

Bung the suit sans armour in the washing machine with a non-biological detergent on a synthetics 40 deg C setting, after making sure there's no trace of softener in the machine. You can then either use a wash in waterproofing agent such as Nikwax or a spray like Graingers. Subject to the suit manufacturers recommendations you might also want to either tumble dry on cool or iron the suit (yes, really...) on a Wool or Silk setting to reset the DWR (Durable Water Repellant) coating on the face fabric.

You can now get the Nikwax wash and TX wash in from Tesco; each bottle is a litre and costs £14 which is a bargain price. They don't stock it in my local branch and I had to order it in but it was in the next day.
