I suppose once you have got your new 1200GS, you are forever convincing yourself it was worth the extra money. I picked mine up on Saturday and was playing on Salisbury Plain on Sunday with a huge grin on me face.

This morning, however, I am thoroughly convinced.
A member of the opposite sex (I am male, honest) looked straight through me and pulled out leaving me no more than 25ft at 40mph. I just shut my eyes and waited for the bang, I remember thinking "bugger I,ve got a lot of work on today". To my utter amazement the bike not only stopped but despite executing a 90 degree turn I was still on it. It did stall but I,ll let that go

Never again will I doubt ABS and never again will I have concerns over the money I,ve spent.

She actually tried to say it was my fault for speeding, an Ambulance coming the opposite way did an emergency stop, as soon as she claimed no blame he started finger wagging at her. I stood back and let him get on with it, I did shout yeah and point my finger a couple of times. She apologised in the end but it was through gritted teeth.

Seriously considering some "get out of my way" lights on the front, any suggestions

Lights - do get a set of whatever you fancy, I have the Wunderlich jobbies that I use for filtering - work a treat...the car drivers see you...

No amount of lights will make someone see you if they aren't looking.

There's a danger it will lull you into a false sense of security too - the same way that you ride faster when in full leathers than when you're wearing shorts and a T shirt.

I'm not saying don't get lights, just don't assume they are the ultimate answer to dumb drivers.

Get a noisy can and beep your horn at every interchange/junction. Wear a glow yellow jacket with a flashing strobe 5000 watt light on your front end. Guess what the blind gits will still pull out in front and give the immediate now famous response I didnt see you, you must have been speeding. Only answer is to assume all are total derriere wipes and hope you pass the junction before they arrive at it. Good friend of mine Police rider on duty fully liveried Pan Euro with glow jacket had exactly the same happen, managed to stop and then pull the driver who had driven off got exactly the same response. They are out there!!
