Closed Cols in France

There's a few cols on the RDGA I`m waiting see if they`ll open in time when I head down there at the end of the month

yep me too!
watching to see when gailbier/cormet de roseland/col d'iseran/madelaine open

hope 2 weeks is long enough for them to clear

(27 june a big day from annecy 350 miles if plan works!)

Col de la Colombiere is now open both ways as of Sunday 9th June
Col de la Ramaz has reopened a couple of weeks ago following a landslide

Where did you ride up from? On ALL the Cols, there are signs way down, which say whether the Col is open or closed. Just to make sure foreigners who don't understand 'ouvert' or 'ferme' they put one in green and one in red. I'll leave you to work out which.
It's been really cold and wet this year though, and the Bonette 'should' open this Saturday so I'm gonna have a scoot up there. However, yesterday we had pissing rain and a feckin tornado here in the bay of Cannes, so no telling what it's gonna be like :cool

I hope it's open in a month's time, Rob...........cos i'm going up it hopefully

Really? Give me a shout when yer doon. I plan to head up there Saturday morning, as all the signs are good. Forecast is for 27C and sunshine every day, well doon here anyway, so shouldn't be any rain/snow up there this week.
Watch this space for piccies :D
Should definitely be open by end of June though, it's NEVER been that late

Rob

Global Warming mate- sorry, it's climate change now we're freezing our tits off :D

As long as it's got a name they can still tax us for it

Will do Rob, if we do

We're in Bardonecchia for the Stella, is it doable to get to Bonette or will I have to leave it until Sept:bounce1

Not only is it 'doable' but it's a spectacularly scenic ride. Go via Briancon then the Col d'Izoard (my favourite), then continue over the Col de Vars, then into Barcelonette. It's a few hours ride, but if it's a nice day there isn't much better to be found round here :-)
You can then loop back over the Col du Parpaillon on the way back if ye like :D

I'll have young Michael in tow, plus a few more so maybe we will venture down that way

If so we'll send you a text a few days before

:)

Funny enough, I'll have young Michael in tow when I go up to the Col de la Bonette this weekend. Now young Cameron is pissed off as he wanted to come too. Then the wife chips in...."why don't we take the car?" aaaarrrgggghhhhh NO! NO! NO!

There's a super off road route from Vars, goes to Embrun (good lunch stop) via Risoul and then over the Parpaillon and down to Barcellonette (great place to stop over). :thumb2

all the passes are open

10 days to go & still waiting for the col du l`seran to open

dont worry lads ,
everywhere is open from today,
now the problems are rivers bursting their banks with all theses thunder storms and the huge amount of snow we had this winter melting only now,(we have had the crappiest spring in years with 8 consecutive months of snow !!!)
:aidan:beer:
