Have had my 04 12gs for 3 weeks and have racked up 1,800 wet miles. Not my first BM (or GS) so no surprise to me that it uses a bit of oil and the engine's lumpy. But there are a couple of techy glitches I thought I''d check out on the forum.

-- The clutch biting point is in the last 10% of the lever travel. Its not obviously slipping nor is it fouling the hand guard. The lever is set to its maximum reach.
Its not causing a problem excect that slow filtering is a pain. Is there any adjustment to be had?

-- At 4000 rpm on constant throttle the engine feels pretty flat, gas it and the problem goes. Is this normal? Will a 'Y' piece sort this?

-- And are the servo assisted brakes supposed to make that buzzing sound?????? (Previous GS was 1150 with plywood brakes)

Thanks in advance.....

The buzzing/whining sound from the brake servos is perfectly normal.

Not sure about clutch adjustment (mine never seemed to need it, so I guess mine bites earlier than yours) and I can't say mine feels flat at 4000 RPM (or anywhere else for that matter) on the standard exhaust set-up, but let's see what other tossers have got to say...

Clutch lever is probably due to too much fluid in the reservoir. With normal clutch wear the fluid rises in the reservoir and will need to be syringed out a little. Take the cap off (push the 2 clips in under the cap and twist) and you should have a little gap between the fluid and the diaphragm.
As for the others, when was it given a damn good service, with valves and throttle bodies sync'd and TPS reset

thanks both.

will syringe out some of the fluid and see if that makes a difference

If you take too much fluid out, don't put brake fluid back in. On the 12GS brake fluid is not clutch fluid if that makes sense.
