2008 GSA. 47000+ miles.
At idle in neutral there's a quite loud knocking noise. Pull in the clutch lever and it goes away.
Noise is worse when hot. Rev it a little and it goes away. Noise seems to come from rear of engine on right.
Clutch seems fine, no slipping, gearbox is slick. Gearbox oil is clear. Engine runs like a dream, all valves and end float cock on. TB balance is perfect and it ticks over smoothly (as smooth as these are).
Research suggests possible clutch spline wear OR gearbox bearings OR both
Anyone else had this and CURED it?
Will probably tear it in half over the next week to have a look at the clutch and if the box bearing has any slop will split that open as well but any clues before I break out the big hammers?
Roger.
