Coleman Sporster 533 dual fuel stove newbie advice needed

I've bought some Aspen 4T today from our local garden machinery store, just a litre to try it out, £6, interestingly did burn a bit yellowish for a while compared to the unleaded I used yesterday, all good fun. I'm not sure I'll use it much in the summer as I do like my Trangia 27, but good fun!

A update - it worked well over my weekend with the sidecar club camping. However, I’m sure I filled it, well 1/4 litre of Aspen, plus whatever small amount of unleaded was in the tank. Burn time must have been 40 minutes maximum. Seems it’s used all the fuel, just weighed it, showing 881gm vs empty of 880gm, so empty! I wondered why it kept losing pressure.

I’d thought it would burn for longer as I’d assumed it was full at the start.

What think you folks?

Never measured my burn time, but can't ever remember it being an issue, guess it depends if you have it going full chat I suppose

That maybe the thing, full throttle for frying bacon twice, a stir fry and multiple teas and coffees

Look on it like an old H2, you get get it to trickle along or you can run it on full chat which is much more satisfying, even if short lived.

Though I’d have thought a couple of hours for a full tank at high burn, lasts for hours on low

I've just posted an add in the camping section for a 533 new fuel Generator if anyone is looking for a spare to put new life in their stove

Mines in the shed still fueled from the last trip

Quick tip, make sure you put your finger over the hole in the primer pump knob,

Otherwise you don't build any pressure DAMHIK ;)

If you go to Tesco, you can gat a nice lock and lock round food contanier, they fit nicley inside

100 CDs tub also fits them perfectly.

Panel wipe from your friendly, local spray shop, is pure Naptha, also known as Coleman white gas, and Aspen - about 1/4 the price though. I get them to get me in a 5l can each year. If they buy in 20l containers, just get a guel can filled up. No smokiness, no petrol smell and every bit as volatile.
Brilliant stoves. Keep the tank wiped dry or they do rust. Another good reason to use panel wipe, it doesn't attract moisture out of the air. Keep the tank filled for storage to avoided condensation building up inside.

Colemen fuel is just branded Naptha. Traditional panel wipe is also Naptha. Aspen is an ALKYLATE fuel and quite different to Naptha. I've always run my multifiel stoves on panel wipe as it's very cheap and burns a lot cleaner than unleaded and I've got loads of it. I've not tried them on Aspen as it's a LOT more expensive!

At least you agree about the panel wipe!

From what I understand Alkylate fuel is basically distilled petrol and the Grand Cru/ Extra, Extra Virgin Oil of the oil industry.
Because it made up of vapour, it is totally free of dirt and added chemicals.
I use it in my mower, stoves and petrol lantern, have for years, and suffer NONE of the old issues I had with pump petrol..
Tried panel wipe, and despite being cleaner than petrol, just doesn't have the same all round performance as Aspen.
I also have Aspen 2T in the Stihl chainsaw and an old Mariner outboard motor - Both fire up in no time after months with 2 stroke mix in the carb.

But here's the thing, I doubt I buy 5 litres of each per year!
