I have a work trip in September and have a day or two free - any ideas on bike rental and routes in the area for a day or two? The info in the section seems dated.

Are you dead set on Beaver Creek?

I don't know that area but done a few trips across Colorado south of that and there are some epic roads to ride!!

Skied the area about twenty years ago and loved the place, especially Breckenridge.

If hiring a car/bike get one with a big engine: We had a cheap small 2-litre dodge (Chrysler) neon, it was down to 20mph in 1st gear going through a summit tunnel with my foot to the floor. One of us got altitude sickness and hardly slept for two weeks, I had nausea and headaches for a few days.

We used to ski and board that area. Mrs cookie tended to suffer from bad altitude sickness in the mountains. The answer was spend the first night somewhere a bit lower than Breckenridge.

I know the I70 quite well. Boarding once at Loveland which is on top of the Eisenhower Tunnel. Took a wrong turning and found myself in some serious steeps with trees. Ended up walking back along the hard shoulder of the I70

I rented an RT1200 a good few years ago for 24 hours in Denver . Can’t remember the route but recall riding up Pikes Peak then past Breckinridge to Boulder

Eisenhower tunnel on the i70 was the one the car struggled over due to altitude/lack of air.
