Now I am fully kitted out with Starcom Advance, Kenwood TK 3201, phone and ipod connections I was thinking of converting my topbox into a communications centre, hardwiring all the necessary connections and wires under the seats and into the box. I will then fix the radio, ipod and phone to the lid for easy acces and removal and fix an external radio ariel.

I was wondering if any of you had done something similar and can give me some pointers.

PMR radios have there arials fixed this is why they are allowed to to used by Jo Public something to do with the law. Have you managed to remove your arial from your TK2301 ? If you do find a way around this please let me know as I would dearly love to increase the distance of my transmissions.

Yes - just tried the brute force method and it would not budge. Why do they sell spare ariels?
Also, leads arrived today from Starcom and they are curly, knackering my plan of running them under the seat. Ho hum, tank bag communication centre it is for now.

I have the following items fitted to the GS I use while Instructing;

Front Camera & Rear Cameras through Switcher unit. Bike powered.
Sony Video Walkman for Camera and Audio Bike to Bike recording, bike powered.
Autocom Active Pro, Bike Powered
Kenwood TK3101, Bike powered
Nokia 6310i
Apple Nano incorperating charger and remote control unit.

As a result of the above list it would not all fit under the seat so made up the following in the top box. All items are secured with velcro for easy removal.

Hope this helps.
