I will start taking the bike into work. I was hoping not to have to change ie. wear some sort of over trousers.

What do most peeps do - change at work or wear something over work clothing?
thanks

sam

I wear some Hein G trousers that just go over my work trousers and I keep a pair of shoe at work.
this has the added bonus of being able to drop my trousers daily in the open plan office

Suits

I personally get changed at work and have no wish to wear the same kit around work and on the journey home. But i do have changing rooms and locker space. I guess it depends how easy it is for you to get changed and store you kit.

If you don't have the facility to change/ store you kit, you could try the aerostich suits or similar versions available which allow the wearing of normal clothes under.

But ultimately it's what you feel will be more comfy and convenient for you

I change at work too. Also, I find it much more comfortable NOT wearing my civies under my bike kit.

I keep suit, shoes and selection of ties at work. At moment wearing BMW Tourance suit, Klan heated waistcoat, Tucano Urbano muffs and gaucho - even at 6am the 40 mile journey is bearable but am thinking of getting heated insoles!

Leave my shoes and trousers at work and get changed. I think you'd find it a bit hot in summer wearing overtrousers of some form.

...wearing Rukka these days over the top of shirt/tie - leave my shoes at work.....been doing that for years....

big pants

I have to wear fire-proof underwear at work (oo-er) so I wear that (long johns and long sleeved t-shirt) then get into coveralls and workboots on arrival at work. My wife is now used to me parading around in the morning in a pair of long johns and a t-shirt...like something out of the wild west in those all over underwear suit things (although I don't have a flap on my arse!)

....I assume you work in a profession that doesn't require trousers then :D

Riding to Work

I am fortunate to have a change room and a couple of lockers at work and on site drycleaning service. Ride to work mostly wearing Draggin Jeans, cotton labourers work shirt and Tiger Angel Elements jacket. Keep a couple of suits, shoes and ties in one locker, bringing in a clean shirt each day folded loosely and placed in the BMW top box on the R1200GSA. I put all the riding clothes in the second locker. Swap the suits each week, drycleaning through the cleaners at work for $12.00 per week.

Change at work. Leave Jacket & shoes there, take in two pairs tousers on Monday, take in a shirt & tie each day. Wear Aerostich if going for an meeting/interview somewhere not too far (an hour or so), otherwise I just carry clothes and find a toilet to change in when I arrive, almost everywhere has a disabled toilet that provides ample room to change easily, and it is often near the main entrance (in, change, take kit out to bike and stick it in the Jesses).
I leave the pillion seat off, I have a Magellan 'Suit Roll Carrier', basically a suit carrier that rolls around a central tube that holds shoes, belts etc. Its waterproof, works, and fits nicely across the tool rack/ panniers (once the pillion seat is removed).

Lucky enough to have a shower at work, although I rarely get to use it; Too many sweaty cyclists in the queue.

I commute 45 miles to/from Reading each day. I were rukka over my chinos/shirt. In summer a pair of size 52 rukka trousers without lining over the chinos and the jacket without the lining. At this time of year a pair of size 54 rukka trousers with the lining over the chinos and a Gerbing heated jacket under the jacket. Keep a pair of shoes and hangers for the rukka at work. Works great and no need to have to change, just strip the rukka at my desk.
