56 GSA with 29.5k on the clock.

Brimmed the tank and zeroed my Zumo fuel odometer before a run up to North Wales and back. Fuel light came on at approx 315 miles (mileage on the Zumo) and bike computer countdown started at 40 miles left - so am thinking that total range is about 350 miles. With just over 7 gallons on board my real world mpg must be just under 50... correct?

However the computer mpg on the bike is telling me that it's 33.6 mpg at the moment and has be heading south over the last few rides. Before this the readout was always fairly constant at about 47mpg.

What gives... :nenau

(I know long stretches on the M6/A14 give me to much time for idle thoughts...:D)

My fuel consumption started going down according to the OBC, next thing the fuel gauge broke. Had it replaced, 2 days later it broke again. Maybe it's a sign your fuel gauge is on the way out :blast:augie

I regularly do over 400 miles per tankful on my GSA then again I've also managed to get 35.8 litres into the tank when filling up which ain't bad for something that allegedly has a 33 litre capacity :augie

I must be doing something seriously wrong, I'm lucky if I can get 280 milesbout of a tank full on my 2010 GSA

Here in America, where 128oz's = a gallon and my '07GSA will hold a good 9+ gallons at fillups,...where I always get at least 400 miles to a tank full, with roughly 15-20 more miles to go. I'll 99% of the time average a good 43mpg's with average fillups around 9 to 9.3 gals.
I've gotten as high as 47mpg's but never below 40-41.
This would be city/highway combined,....4000-4500 rpm's @65-70 mph.

Thanks for your input guys. :thumb2

Will reset the OBC mpg readout and see if that makes any difference.

Slightly off topic but was that your GSA that I saw at a certain Alton Based BMW dealer on Friday 5th August - with the same decals etc as you avatar and a rather trick seat? and a set of TKC's on which (to a certain small extent) might explain the higher mpg......?
