Sorry to be a pain, but is it possible to remove my silencer and replace it with a y piece(where from) and carry out no modifications on my 2003 1150gs twin spark head, and cause no damage to the bike.
Thank you to any one who can help
Cheers

Yep.

I removed the CAT and fitted the Y-piece. No other mods and ran fine.

10,000 km later I fitted a Remus end can, also ran fine with no other mods. Later the filter was changed to K&N, fit a carbon fibre (wider) induct and then did the Cat Code Plug thing ... since removed. Seems (TOUCH WOOD! :aidan ) fine!

I bought my Y-piece and Can from Motoworks at

P.S. the reason for moving on from simple y-piece replacement was the classic 'just can't leave it alone' ailment!

I fitted a Y piece to my 2003 twin spark and found the bike ran weak at high revs, tried Steptoes mod but still ran weak. I went back to the original setup in the end. the bike runs fine now and you don't get the horrible remus drone on long runs.

I have a Y piece with original can runs fine no problems apart from a popping on over-run did have a remus too noisey for me that used to pop even worse on over-run
i tried the mod from steptoe i thought it ran rich being a yorkshire man need to save the extra pennies so reverted back to normal

best of luck

Hi,welcome.
A "y" piece is one of the best mods to do.Less weight, more mid-range and better fuel consumption.Search for the Steptoe cat code mod and try it if the bike pops a lot.
