Hi, im thinking of getting a powered wireless charging mount for my quadlock.

I have now found a handy looking square female connector tethered up just to the side of the horn, I tried it with the voltage meter and yes it shows nothing with ignition off but only 8.8 volts with ignition on?? I tried the battery and thats showing just under 13 volts as you would expect so I’m wondering what the connector showing 8.8 volts is for and if indeed i can use it to power the phone charger?

Previously I found and fitted the adapter to the dedicated sat nave connection under the beak which now happily powers my zumo 595.

Many thanks in advance.

That connector is for the evaporative emissions canister purge valve - AFAIK only used on the US spec bikes, but left there to confuse everyone else.

Thanks for the reply fella, so I’m guessing it would be possible to use as the power supply for the phone but it would be nice to source the coresponding plug that fits it, anyone know where I might get one?

Thanks.

Absolutely not advisable to use this as a power source, it comes direct from the BMS (engine) ECU and as such will not have the protection that the normal accessory supplies have which come from the ZFE unit.
Also as this output is under the control of the BMS it is likely that it switches on/off whilst the bike is in use depending on things like temperature, engine speed, throttle position, etc.

Ok, you obviously know what you are talking about so with that said I’ll abandon that idea and break into the sat nav supply. Thanks again for taking the time to help me.
