A while ago I posted my discomfort with the Conti Road Attacks in the wet. I thought I might actually have a faulty front, but I am now on my second one (first was punctured after 1000 miles or so), but Tuesday I had a nasty moment on a roundabout. Again.
I was therefore interested that these tyres got`2 3rd place in Ride magazine Rider Power 2007. Only they come 3rd (overall), but 10th for grip, 11th for wet weather performance, and 15th for longevity.
So how do they come third overall?- all I want from a tyre is grip, wet weather grip, and longevity.
Equally interesting are the three 'cases' - comments about wet weather performance mirror my own experience (although appear contradictory to the experiences of the majority here), and although it is only the three viewpoints, Ride usually make an effort to find people whose experience is 'typical' of their respondents.
Regardless, I hate them. And now fear I always will.

I've the Older COntiattacks on My Hybrid GS~RS thing and to be honest anything over 10 degrees C they are fan~dabby~doozie

BUT Get down below 10 and it's like trying to ride on plastic

I never really had the same level of comfort/confidence that I had with Dunlop 207's but the longevity wasn't there for the rear on the Ducati

I'll have to admit I can give a pair of turances a good thrashing and be well happy but they don't do a 120/60 17 front and 160/60 18 rear :thedummy:thedummy:thedummy

It has long been a mystery to me how RIPE magazine draw their conclusions. For example, they have treated the R1150GS and R1150GSA as two different machines for years, when we all know that the differences between them, gearbox ratios, (optional), tank size, seat and suspension are the only significant differences. Oh yes, and the colour!!! :thumb

On other makes of bikes, they have lumped models them together!!! Look at how they rate the Triumph 675, they have lunched engines because of low oil levels, but they rave about the bike!!! The difference is, these "journalists" live in a rarified world far detached from reality and people actually read and believe what they say!!!

Of course, the piece about Held gloves is totally true and I know that for a fact!!! Held should be No1 IMHO

In the latest issue of Ride they have Me and my GS with a load of other fellas with No.1s in the survey. I still think the tourances are the knees of bees.
