Am about to replace the Tournaces on my GS and am thinking of trying the CTA. Have just read a report on Adventure Rider, which gave a good report on them.

Has anybody on here gone from Tourances to CTA, if so how did you find the change in handling?..

TIA.....:D

quicker steering, needed a hundred or so miles to run em in, stick well and last well too, ill buy another set next time

I found them a better road tyre... but forget about the trail attack bit... I couldn't even get off the camp group up in wales last year after it rained! My father whizzed past me with his tourances on no probs!

I think the trail attacks are quieter and smoother on the road with very good grip. I'd buy again if I'm only riding roads or dry hard packed gravel roads... no wet grass! In fact I@m hoping to find a used set of rims so that I can have the TAs and a set of TCKs ready to go at the same time!

I paid £136 delievered for both the front and back combined.

durability

Just passing 11,000 km on my CTA (1150GSA) and still another thousand or so left in them, I'd estimate. Confident in the wet and for minor tracks etc......

something about the CTAs i just cant get on with them:blast and cant wait to get back to tourances.

they seem to give a weird wobble between 15-40mph a few peeps here said this would go after while and it finally has after 7k on them.

but they just dont seem to have the all round performance of the tourances IMO:)

Thanks for your input guys....

There were a few comments on the Adventure Forum who mentioned this wobble ......

I'm 6000 miles in

really don't like them, I've had 020's, dunlops and road attacks and as a pure road tyre they are vague, lack feel, grip but do at least last well. For me the real test was this year at the ring and during a trip on the route nepoleon and route des grand alp, they let go early and without much warning. On the whole I'm fairy sceptible about tyres on the road as they are all within very close margins with the exception of the TA's which for the first time I found a real let down. Couldn't comment about off-road and more trail based tyres.

Hope this helps

Steve

Off the top of my head I can't remember it was in one of the many tyre threads
the thing with tourances is I've used them on my Africa twin , Varadero , first GS , and now my GSA ang the have been great across all bikes.
The contis work but IMO just not as well,

the thing is everybodys different , ride different , so what good for one person don't nesessary work for another .

There was a road test last year or the year before. The attacks were better than the Tourances at everything except the wet. The Attacks were still very good. I would agree with that assessment having followed a number of tourance shod GSs in all weather conditions. The attacks are a very good tyre in fact they are excellent. No wobble with my attacks ever.

I found them the best road tyre I've had on a GS. The wet grip and confidence they inspired was awesome, way better than any other tyre I've had on any bike.

I didn't notice any wobbles or vagueness with mine.

I'll be returning to them shortly.

Agree, mine lasted 11500 miles and I recently had a second set fitted. Never experienced any wobbles, so can only recommend a set :thumb

Trail attacks

I found them to be extremely grippy wet and dry better than tourances, slight wobble felt to begin with though around 30/40 mph but nothing major. Have gone back to tourances as the rear was squared off at 6.5k and the tyre was very noisy so bad in fact i thought the big bevel bearing had gone.
