Having had our offer accepted on a bungalow in Co. Longford we need a solicitor to carry out the necessary. Several friends have suggested finding a firm from a different area to avoid shall we say a "conflict of interests" which may be the best or worst advice so far?
Can anyone recommend a decent firm please and while we're at it a surveyor/engineer in case the one we've been recommended doesn't return my call

I like my solicitor, he's a friend and did good work for me when buying my own house, had a few warnings for me. He's in Dublin but I can pass on the details if you want? Don't know an engineer in that area, my guy is in Kildare.

I can personally recommend Tom O Hare http://www.ohareodwyer.ie/ . He has done conveyancing for me and it was trouble free and he is thorough from your point of view making sure all taxes etc etc had been paid by the previous owner. He has also done lots of recent legal work for my mom and again was very thorough.
